New Delhi (India), June 17: The delegation from Florida International University (FIU), USA led by Dr. Kenneth G. Furton, Provost Emeritus, FIU visited NFSU, Gandhinagar during 12 to 14 June, 2024. The delegation consisting of Dr. Kevin Lothridge, Chief Scientific Officer, FIU and Prof. S.S. Iyengar, Emeritus Professor, FIU held extensive discussion with Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of NFSU.
Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of NFSU said that National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), India and Florida International University (FIU), USA will jointly establish a Forensic Study Centre in near future to help the forensic capabilities globally.
Joint degree programs, research projects and faculty/student exchange program will be part of this proposed Study Centre along with academic, training, research & development, and consultancy.
Dr. Kenneth G. Furton and Dr. Kevin Lothridge gave an extensive presentation on Centre for Advanced Research in Forensic Science led by FIU and Talk on Forensic Investigation respectively and interacted with the students of NFSU. The lecture was well appreciated by the faculty and students of NFSU.
Later, an interactive session was arranged with NFSU faculty members to discuss in niche potentials areas in forensic science for prospective collaborative works. Specific areas were identified for prospective joint projects viz. Canine Forensics, Nuclear Forensics, investigation in CBRN cases, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cyber security and Digital Forensics.
During the meeting, Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar; Shri C.D. Jadeja, Executive Registrar, NFSU; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Chaudhary, Campus Director, NFSU-Goa and Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director, NFSU-Delhi were present.
