New Delhi (India), April 3: The capital city, witnessed the 7th edition of Mela Phulkari-themed Ajj Din Chadeya. The Mela, put together by Kirandeep Kaur and Harinder Singh, founders of 1469 Original and art historian Dr. Alka Pande, along with talented artists, designers, and photographers, was an endeavour to create an immersive experience in the cultural domain. It was a humble attempt to give the onlookers the same joy they experienced from their proud traditions. Not specific to the Sikh identity, Mela Phulkari transcends identity and local geography and speaks the language of humanity.

1469 Original have incessantly channelled energy and resources into the conservation and preservation of art and culture, fast losing their significance to a competitive world of commerce, politics, and reproducible.

Through Mela Phulkari, Workshop 1469 investigates several concerns, from social, ecological, philosophical, and cultural, to the most alarming one of sustainability. Sustainability of the planet, yes, but also of our culture and knowledge. The past six seasons of the annually held Mela Phulkari have seen the creative founder of 1469, along with artists and Dr. Alka Pande, highlights Punjab and turn the Mela into not just a movement but a celebration— a celebration of art, folk roots, and music. The pandemic brought many changes, including three consecutive years of no Mela, but Mela Phulkari was back with its 7th edition to revitalize the celebration and magic.

Some of the esteemed guests who attended the event were Deputy Chief of Mission Patricia A. Lacina, U.S Embassy and Consulates in India, Hans Jacob Frydenlund, Ambassador of Norway to India, Jagdeep Singh Sidhu Maker of Shadaa (Diljit Dosanjh highest revenue earned movie &Qismat & Sufna), Vikramjit Singh Sahney MP Rajya Sabha to name a few apart from performances by Baazigar from Bathinda, Sardars of Sangrur, Stand up Comedian Parvinder Singh.
